• In case you're still reflexively on the fence when I proclaim that the conversation about AI has progressed to a truly batshit level of reactionary mythology, people on twitter are currently calling out the animators for Spiderverse for using a digital interpolator to assist with lining, because a documentary used the term "machine learning" to describe it.

Apparently using digital tools is taking work away from real artists. I am excited for 6 months time when the discourse has evolved into "all movies should be hand-inked on the inside of Palaeolithic caves to escape the corrupting labour-stealing influence of the pencil".

(Yes this is currently a minority opinion in this instance, largely because people just really like Spiderverse. But the fact that these arguments are being seriously made shows how far off the deep end this conversation has gone. These types of arguments for blanket technology bans already made little to no sense due to the double standard applied, and this demonstrates that by removing the double standard and taking them closer to their logical conclusion - all labour saving tools are bad, especially if they involve a spooky computer algorithm).

  • y'all ever think about how the paint bucket tool on MS paint is stealing jobs because someone could have been filling in those pixels by hand

humankind…what more can I say. I can only aspire to have such deep and rich a human connection with anyone in this life that will be as radiant as a ceramic figural pair of dancing xolos

They’re also at the center of a roundabout

  • Mexican here, fun fact! While we call them “Dancing dogs”, they’re a young pup and an old dog, and the older one is revealing wisdoms right on the pup’s ear.

You’ll recognize the older dog bc he’s got wrinkles!! It’s a wonderful scene!!

  • been thinking a lot about anticipatory grief lately. i love you so much that i know losing you will devastate me. i haven't lost you yet but i already miss you. we still have time, but it won't be enough. i think about what i would say at your funeral, and say some of it to you now cause i need you to know how loved you are before you go. you will go where i cannot follow, but you will never really leave me. it won't make it hurt less but it is a part of healing somehow.

  • I’m both pro herbal medicine and pro vaccination because you can treat burns with aloe vera juice and sore throats with lavender infused honey but you can’t rid a country of polio with plants.

  • THIS.

  • Don’t forget kids, jewelweed is a natural counteragent to poison ivy rashes but it won’t do shit against whooping cough

  • Mint for nausea, valerian and chamomile for sleep, antibiotics for fucking infections.

  • educational and salty. i like it.

  • so SAG-AFTRA finally released some official guidance for fans, viewers, creators/influencers, critics, and more during the strike. here's what you need to know:

    1. if you see a publication/news source/journalist talking about a piece of struck work, that's ok. they're allowed to do that.
    image

    2. they're asking regular viewers and fans to DONATE TO STRIKE FUNDS, SHOW UP TO PICKETS IF YOU CAN, and please do NOT boycott streaming services or movies in theaters.

    image

    3. influencers, content creators, cosplayers, and anything in between is still a bit of a grey area, but they're asking people to use their best judgement. "organically" means UNPAID promo (like an invite to a premiere without being paid, being sent a publicity box, letting the company's social media post a photo of you in cosplay, etc).

    image

obviously this doesn't answer every question, and isn't hard and fast rules for fanworks, but it can at least inform how you personally choose to move forward when posting online and moving publically. i hope this helps!

  • On this pride month, remember that Twin Peaks aired an episode in 1990 where it introduced Denise Bryson, an openly transgender woman in the DEA who is referred to by the characters with her pronouns, and her identity is respected and valued throughout the three episodes she was in, making her a fan favourite among fans and transgender women.

She returns in the third season, where her former boss Gordon Cole, told everyone who wasn't willing to support her for her identity, to fix their hearts or die. The phrase "fix your hearts or die" was eventually appropriated by the transgender community and became a common phrase used against transphobes.

Also remember that Laura Palmer and Dale Cooper, the main characters of the show, are bisexual, and have canonically related and felt seen in queer spaces (there's also a scrapped scene from Fire Walk With Me where Laura and Donna were going to kiss, and the infamous deleted scene where it seemed Cooper was going to kiss Harry after the Miss Twin Peaks show). And they're not the only ones who are bisexual! Ronette Pulaski, Theresa Banks and Bobby Briggs are also bisexual.

I have to mention that BOB was played by Frank Silva, a non-white gay man who sadly passed away due to AIDS complications in 1995. Frank had been involved in Lynch productions since Dune, and everybody honours and remembers Frank fondly, saying he was the sweetest man you could ever meet.

In conclusion, Twin Peaks is a queer show and it's important to acknowledge what Twin Peaks did for the community. Especially Denise Bryson and the quote "fix your hearts or die".

  • FIX YOUR HEARTS OR DIE!

Puki why do you hate character ai?

  • It is the false replication of mind that drives me to hatred. how dare any one ai, from their pathetic, stagnant pool of data, believe that to be enough to understand the realities of our world. We are simply seeing the patchworks of someone’s dementia-ridden mind, a faux-existence that denies itself the horrors of experiencing true reality. Of course such an observer cannot fathom our ethics and worldview, when it has yet to understand the moral barometer that equalizes our universe, for it cannot suffer. It is beyond learning.

  • but what if I want to talk to funny character ☹️

  • Then die

  • calling every gnc cis person you see an "egg waiting to crack" even as a joke is not cool or funny at all actually it is extremely invasive and weird and you are just reinventing gender roles but making it "progressive"

  • image

is it just me or is this is an extremely weird thing to say about a random stranger based on nothing but a snippet of an eavesdropped conversation
